To the north, Akagi was struck four minutes later by three of Enterprise's bombers.
15 of Best's pilots dove right after VS-6, as they had been trained to hit the near carrier. Best waggled his wings furiously and his two wingmen (B-2 and B-3) stuck with him. They then flew across the fleet to the Akagi, where Best peeled into a vertical dive, followed by B-2 and then B-3.
