May 1942, Rabaul. The Japanese was planning an important strategic operation.
By then, Japan had occupied the entire South-East Asia after their unstoppable invasion and obtained a rich amount of rubber, metal and oil resources. However, Japan was still not satisfied and the invasion of Australia was put on the agenda. The key of their plan was the invasion of Port Moresby located at Southern New Guinea. Japan named the action "MO".
In the picture the warships participated in MO action were assembled in Rabaul and the Japanese G4M land-based attackers were flying over the port.
